What we aim for

This site is built to meet WCAG 2.2 level AA. That is the standard most public bodies in the UK are held to, and we hold ourselves to it because a platform that feeds a talking newspaper for blind listeners has no excuse not to.

What that means in practice

• Everything works with a keyboard alone. No mouse needed anywhere, including uploading a file.
• Every button is a real button and every field has a real label, so screen readers announce them properly.
• Decorative symbols are hidden from screen readers, with proper text behind them. Play buttons say “play” and the title, not a glyph.
• Text meets AA contrast against the dark background throughout.
• Form errors appear as a list at the top, and each one is a link that jumps to the field it is about.
• Animation stops for anyone whose system asks for reduced motion.
• Touch targets are at least 44 pixels, and the mobile menu sits within thumb reach at the bottom of the screen.
• No visual puzzles or picture tests to prove you are human.
• Transcripts on published work wherever we have them, so deaf and hard of hearing people can read what they cannot hear.

What is not done yet

Being straight with you matters more than a clean list:

• Not every piece has a transcript. We generate a draft automatically and correct it by hand, but older work may have none.
• No independent audit. We have tested this ourselves and against the standard, but nobody outside the studio has checked it.
• No light mode. The site is dark throughout. If that is hard for you, tell us — it is on the list.

If any part of this site is difficult or impossible for you to use, we want to know. Not as a complaint — as a bug report.

Use the contact form and say what you were trying to do, what happened, and what you use to browse. We will fix it and tell you when it is done.

If you need anything on this site in a different format, ask and we will do our best to provide it.

How this site is built

Hand-written HTML, CSS and PHP. No page builder, no accessibility overlay, no plugin promising compliance. Overlays tend to make things worse for the people they claim to help, so we do not use one.
